The City of Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up to bring local gamers together later this month with a community Fortnite Tournament scheduled for Friday, May 29, at the Chisholm Community Center.
The competition will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with check-in and warm-ups beginning at 4:30 p.m. The event is open to participants ages 13 and older and invites players to compete on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox consoles. A $10 entry fee covers registration, one slice of pizza, and a drink.
Organizers say the tournament aims to provide a safe, structured environment for gamers while offering a fun and competitive experience. The winner will take home a SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 Wireless Gaming Headset.
Event guidelines will be enforced throughout the evening. Doors will close promptly at 5 p.m., and late arrivals will not be allowed inside. Security personnel will be present for the duration of the tournament, and all participants must abide by the official MGM Esports Rulebook, which includes strict prohibitions on toxic behavior and property damage.
The competition will follow a 20-player double-elimination format. Players may bring their own keyboards, mice, or standard controllers, though all equipment will be inspected during check-in. Organizers also note that the tournament is a lock-in style event; once play begins at 5:15 p.m., the center will be closed to outside guests. Participants under age 16 must be accompanied by a guardian at least 21 years old.
Pre-registration is required and can be completed online at Registration Form.
