UPDATE: Wares Ferry Road Emergency Bridge Closure 🚧 Progress Ahead of Schedule 🚧

The City of Montgomery is pleased to share a positive update on the Wares Ferry Road bridge project. Crews are making steady progress, with environmental approvals nearing completion and continued coordination underway with our utility partners. Construction of the new culvert is advancing smoothly.

Thanks to this proactive work, the project is currently ahead of schedule. Barring unforeseen delays, the City anticipates reopening the Wares Ferry Road bridge at the beginning of summer. We are grateful for the community's patience and understanding as we work diligently to restore safe access as quickly as possible.

This work follows the original emergency closure issued on December 18, when structural damage caused by overweight vehicles created an urgent safety concern. For the safety of all motorists, the bridge was immediately closed, and a designated detour was established to maintain traffic flow during repairs.

Original Closure Summary
• Closed since: December 18
• Location: Approximately 900 ft. north of Wares Ferry Road & McLemore Drive
• Reason for Closure: Structural damage from overweight vehicles creating unsafe conditions
• Detour: In effect and will remain active until reopening

The City remains committed to providing timely updates as the project continues moving forward.
