Salinas Pressure Pipeline Repairs Project Set to Begin
On Monday, October 5, 2026, the County of San Luis Obispo will begin work to replace two deteriorated segments of the Salinas Water Pipeline.
During the construction, the public can expect to see work along the roadway shoulder along the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 101 between Tassajara Creek Road and Cuesta Springs Road. The work will continue through November 9, 2026.
This 85 year old pipeline supplies raw water from the Salinas Reservoir (Santa Margarita Lake) to the water treatment plant for the City of San Luis Obispo to drinking water standards and was noted to have several deteriorated sections during a recent inspection.
Installation of traffic control and entry/exit of large construction vehicles to and from the site have been restricted to the nighttime hours of 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.. There may be up to a 10-minute delay during these nighttime hours. During the daytime hours of 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. there are no anticipated traffic delays through the construction zone.
Rob Reynolds Construction, Inc. has been awarded the contract for $423,653.33 to perform the work. The project is financed by local funds from the City of San Luis Obispo
