Alumna named Campbell's new director of career services

June 18, 2026

Christie Stafford, a two-time Campbell University graduate and most recently a senior admissions counselor for new students, was named director of career services this week. In her role, Stafford will support professional development across the student experience, from freshman year through graduation.

"We are pleased Christie is taking on this role," said Rev. Dr. Faithe Beam, vice president for Student Life and Christian Mission at Campbell. "She will bring commitment and passion to support career readiness and development for students and to foster connections with potential employers."

Stafford, a native of Wayne County, earned her bachelor's degree in educational studies from Campbell in 2006 and her master's in faith and leadership formation from the Divinity School in 2022. Prior to becoming an admissions counselor, she was an educator for over 15 years in both elementary and middle schools across Wayne, Johnston and Harnett counties.

"If you've had the pleasure of exchanging emails from Ms. Stafford, you'll find that her signature shares her personal motto: 'My calling is to help you find yours,'" said Rachel Nelson, director of Hallmarks and Character Education. "That is exactly what she will do in this new role."

Nelson said the role will primarily serve students in the College of Arts & Sciences and School of Education & Human Sciences. Stafford will also work collaboratively with those already doing the important work of career services in planning large campus events that serve all Campbell students.

Stafford said she is excited to begin her work for the next academic year, transitioning into this role during the summer.

"Stepping into the role of director of career services will allow me to continue to fulfill my calling while also being the bridge to help Campbell students take the next step towards theirs," she said, echoing her email sign-off.

Stafford said she believes the new role will allow her to use all the experiences she has had as Campbell employee, alumna and educator, and she looks forward to helping fulfill Campbell's mission to prepare students for purposeful lives and meaningful service.
