Delaware Democratic Party Issues Statement on Assassination of Charlie Kirk

Delaware Democratic Party Chair, Evelyn Brady, has issued the following statement on the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Charlie Kirk's family and loved ones this morning. Violence has no place in America's political discourse. I join the chorus of other Delaware Democrats in condemning political violence. As Americans, we owe it to one another to settle our political differences at the end of the campaign trail, not at the end of a rifle. Anything short of that is antithetical to the democratic principles that our country has spent nearly 250 years striving towards.

"We also cannot ignore the role that guns have played in multiple tragedies yesterday, and it does not have to be that way. It makes no difference whether you are a firebrand political commentator, a sitting state legislator, or a student attending your first weeks of class. Gun violence can affect us all the same. If we are to change that unfortunate fact, it will take the kind of common-sense gun safety legislation that Delaware Democrats have led on. Our work is not yet done."
