Ahead of the March 18 House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee hearing on "Lowering Health Care Costs for All Americans: An Examination of the U.S. Provider Landscape," Consumers for Fair Hospital Pricing, a coalition of leading organizations representing families, individuals, and health care consumers across the United States taking on the harmful pricing practices and anti-competitive behavior of hospitals and large hospital corporations, submitted this statement for the record.

The statement urges the Subcommittee to advance an agenda that prioritizes health care affordability for American families and holds corporate health systems accountable for charging excessive prices, including policy solutions that improve price transparency, address site of service payment differentials, and ban anticompetitive contracting terms that limit patient access.

The statement is signed by Families USA, Colorado Consumer Health Initiative, Consumers for Quality Care, Health Access California, Pennsylvania Health Access Network, and U.S. PIRG.
