Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that three individuals implicated in the July 4 post-fireworks shooting incident in downtown Albany have been formally charged in Albany County Court.
A 16-year-old was arraigned on an indictment in front of the Honorable Andra Ackerman Friday that charges him with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, and Arson in the Fourth Degree
A 15-year-old was arraigned on an indictment that charges him with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Savion Wimberly, 24, was arraigned on an indictment that charges him with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
All three pleaded not guilty. The two youths were remanded to the custody of the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility, while Wimberly was remanded to the custody of the Albany County Correctional Facility. The incident remains an ongoing investigation and additional charges will be pursued.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Joseph Meany, Assistant District Attorney Collin D'Arcy and Assistant District Attorney Marissa Olsen are prosecuting the case.
