Duckworth, Durbin Talk Regional Development with Champaign County First

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] - U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today met with representatives from Champaign County First to discuss the region's priorities and advocating for federal policies that improve the lives of those in Central Illinois. During the meeting, Durbin and Duckworth received updates about the region's transportation and infrastructure projects, including upgrading the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District with new diesel-electric hybrid buses. They also spoke with Champaign County First about the Illinois Fermentation and Agriculture Biomanufacturing (iFAB) Tech Hub, which specializes in biomanufacturing.

"Bringing in federal funding to our local communities is critical for growing and sustaining our infrastructure, manufacturing industry and jobs," Duckworth said. "As the Trump Administration continues to play politics with this critical funding for states, I'm committed to doing everything we can to push back and support projects like those throughout Champaign County, Central Illinois and our whole state to help our communities grow and thrive."

"The decisions we make in Washington have a direct impact on Illinoisans. Today, Senator Duckworth and I had a productive conversation with Champaign County First about how our federal government can best support Central Illinois' economic development," Durbin said.
