Chinese Consulate General in Brisbane Hosts Reception Celebrating Chinese New Year

On 10 February 2026,the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Brisbane hosted the reception at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Center to celebrate Chinese New Year. Consul-General Dr Ruan Zongze,Her Excellency the Honorable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, the Honorable Cameron Dick, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Lord Mayor of Brisbane Adrian Schrinner, President of Queensland Chinese United Council Mr Michael Ma attended and delivered speeches. Deputy Consul-General Ms Li Suyun hosted the reception and about 500 representatives from all walks of life of Queensland participated.

Dr Ruan introduced the remarkable achievements of 14th Five-Year Plan and outlined the vision for the 15th Five-Year Plan. He noted that China's success makes the world better.The steady and sound China-Australia relations has delivered tangible benefits to the people of both countries.Broad-based cooperation between China and Queensland is productive. Dr Ruan stressed that the Taiwan question lies at the core of China interests, and that any attempt at blocking the overriding trend of China's reunification is doomed to fail.

Books, arts and crafts exhibits at the reception are warmly received and widely commended. Guests said they looked forward to the sustained deepening of Australia-China and Queensland-China relations.
