PUBLIC NOTICE - HYDRANT FLUSHING

Commencing in early April 2025 and concluding on or about May 16, 2025, the Fox Lake Sewer and Water Department will conduct fire hydrant flushing in both the north and south water systems. This procedure is essential to ensure the hydrants are operational for emergencies and to remove sediment from the distribution system.

Notice signs will be displayed in affected areas prior to the flushing. The flushing will occur from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Residents are advised not to do laundry on the days when hydrants are flushed in their vicinity, as this may stir up iron sediment, leading to discoloration of laundry. If discoloration occurs after flushing, running the cold water for a few minutes-preferably from a tub spout or outside spigot-should resolve the issue. Please bypass any softeners or whole house filters and refrain from using hot water until the water clears.
