Ruslan Edelgeriyev chaired expert group meetings on UN conventions to combat desertification and protect biodiversity

Aide to the President and Special Presidential Representative for Climate and Water Resources Ruslan Edelgeriyev Edelgeriyev RuslanAide to the President chaired the third expert group meeting on the UN Convention to Combat Desertification in Those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, Particularly in Africa (UNCCD), and the fifth expert group meeting on biodiversity and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Both meetings took place under the Interdepartmental Working Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Development, which operates within the Presidential Executive Office.

Among other matters, the expert group discussions focused on the composition of the Russian delegations to two upcoming conferences: the 17^th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNCCD, to be held in Ulaanbaatar in August 2026, and the 17^th session of the Conference of the Parties to the CBD, scheduled for October 2026 in Yerevan.
