Crescent City, CA - Redwood National Park welcomed 1.2 million visitors in 2025. Redwood National and State Parks, including Redwood National Park and Jedediah Smith, Del Norte Coast, and Prairie Creek Redwoods State Parks, welcomed nearly 2.5 million visitors in 2025
"We are honored that so many people choose to visit Redwood National and State Parks," said Park Superintendent Leonel Arguello. "Providing a high-quality, meaningful park experience takes a tremendous collective effort. Every year, people come from around the world to walk among our ancient redwoods, explore our rugged coastline, and immerse themselves in this extraordinary landscape. We are deeply grateful to our partners and gateway communities, whose collaboration, support, and dedication help us welcome, inform, and serve our visitors."
Visitation figures and trends help guide how the National Park Service manages parks to ensure the best possible experience for visitors. The Visitation Statistics Dashboard on NPS.gov provides recreation visit data for every park in the U.S. from 2025 all the way back to 1979 in many cases. Additional information about the economic contributions to gateway communities is available on the Visitor Spending Effects Dashboard.
Of note, the data shows visitation to Redwood National Park increasing from 600,000 in 2024 to 1.2 million in 2025. This increase is mostly attributed to improved visitor counting methods. A detailed report on counting methods can be found in this report.
Increased visitation at Redwood National Park in 2025 was estimated based on data taken from trail counters, visitor center contacts, and visitor center bookstore sales, showing an increase of roughly 11% compared to 2024.
Redwood National Park looks forward to welcoming both new and repeat visitors in 2026 to experience the awe of the ancient redwood forest.
