100 Years of Care at Saint Joseph Hospital - London

LONDON, Ky. (September 21, 2026) - CommonSpirit - Saint Joseph Hospital - London marked 100 years of service to southeastern Kentucky with a "Roaring Centennial" Gala in late August. While celebrating its past, the hospital's foundation focused on the future, with proceeds dedicated to the expansion of oncology services.

"We paid tribute to our founding with a 'Great Gatsby' and 1920's theme, while continuing our rich history of providing exceptional care in southeastern Kentucky," said John Yanes, President, CommonSpirit - Saint Joseph Hospital - London. "We are grateful for the unwavering generosity of the nearly 400 guests at the event, as well as our sponsors, whose financial support facilitate access for our friends and neighbors to the highest quality of care close to home."

The Centennial Gala raised more than $150,000 for enhancements to the hospital's oncology services, supporting patient resources, access to care, and improvements to the cancer center and care environment.

"We know that the hope and comfort of patients and families hinges on care close to home. There should be no reason to travel to access treatment for a challenging and often exhausting illness."

Attendees watched musical performances by Maxwell Zheng and Encore of Lexington. A highlight of the evening was the Legacy Award presentation, which honored the late Judge R.W. Dyche for his significant contributions to the hospital and community.

Saint Joseph Hospital - London hosted various events throughout the year to commemorate its centennial with the next event being a golf scramble scheduled for September 28 at the The Oaks of London Golf and Country Club in London, Kentucky. Funds raised at the event will also support improvements to cancer services to provide those we serve with advanced care close to home.
