Heads-up: Downtown Library construction

Starting in September, long-planned construction work will take place inside the Downtown Library, continuing into the winter. Thank you for your patience and understanding during the on-and-off construction dust and noise.

We expect the library to be open and all services to be available throughout this time. Parking and outside return slots will not be affected.

Most of the work will take place in the central area of the first floor. Some items and services will temporarily move to different places in the building as the work progresses.

Improvements will include:

  • display and shelving designed to provide better access to our Library of Things
  • adjustments to the customer service desk for greater efficiency

This reconfiguration is largely funded by donations through Eugene Public Library Foundation, as part of its financial support for the Library of Things.

Also during this time period, the City of Eugene will be updating the lighting in the Downtown Library to transition to LED bulbs and a new control system. This change will save both energy and money.

Timelines with specific dates for these projects are being developed now. For updates, watch this page, follow the library's Instagram and Facebook accounts, or sign up for the library's monthly newsletter.
