Camden County Opens Warming Center Amid Upcoming Severe Winter Weather

In response to the National Weather Service's forecast of a rare and severe winter storm impacting our region, Camden County officials are proactively establishing a Warming Center to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.

Warming Center Details
Location: Camden County Recreation Center, 1050 Wildcat Drive, Kingsland, GA
Operating Hours: Open overnight from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m., starting Sunday, January 19, 2025, and continuing as needed based on weather conditions.

Residents in need of a warm place to stay are encouraged to utilize this facility. The Warming Center will provide a safe and heated environment during the anticipated freezing temperatures for those vulnerable to cold weather.

Weather Advisory
The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning in effect from 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, for Coastal Camden and Inland Camden areas. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 26°F are expected, with wind chills potentially dropping to 15°F. These conditions pose risks such as hypothermia and frostbite.

Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), in collaboration with local municipalities, the Public Service Authority (PSA), Fire Rescue, and the Sheriff's Office, is working cohesively to address the challenges posed by this unprecedented winter weather.
