During his mission to Kyiv, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, held a meeting at the Embassy of Italy with representatives of Italian companies operating in Ukraine.
The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the Italian Government's closeness to and support for Italian businesses, which have demonstrated remarkable resilience and a strong sense of responsibility by remaining in Ukraine despite the devastating effects of the conflict, including a significant reduction in production capacity and a sharp increase in energy costs.
The Minister also recalled Italy's commitment to supporting Ukraine's reconstruction, with particular reference to the energy sector, building on the work initiated with the organisation of the Rome Conference in July 2025.
Tajani further underlined the priority of putting in place risk mitigation tools, including access to financial guarantees, support for participation in international programmes and tenders, and a strengthened institutional presence on the ground.
Economic relations between Italy and Ukraine remain strong despite the impact of the conflict, with bilateral trade reaching EUR 4.5 billion in 2025, mainly in the machinery, pharmaceutical and agri-food sectors. Interest from the Italian business community in the Ukrainian market continues to grow despite ongoing challenges, as demonstrated by initiatives promoted by the Embassy and the Italian Trade Agency in Kyiv. In particular, a series of webinars launched last November has involved over 500 Italian companies.
