Chinese defense minister holds talks with South African counterpart

BEIJING, June 2 -- On June 1, 2026, Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun held talks with Angie Motshekga, South African Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, during his official visit to South Africa upon invitation.

The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the relations between the two countries and two militaries, the international and regional situation, and other issues of common concern. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and to continuously deepening all-around pragmatic cooperation.

Prior to the talks, Motshekga hosted a welcome ceremony for Admiral Dong Jun and accompanied him to inspect the guard of honor.
