Work to replace Fleming Creek Bridge on SH-55 resumes next week

BANKS - The Idaho Transportation Department will continue reconstruction of the Fleming Creek Bridge on State Highway 55. Work will resume next week and is expected to be complete in fall 2026.

During April, SH-55 will be reduced to one lane at the Fleming Creek Bridge, with a temporary signal and flaggers directing traffic. Speeds will be reduced, and the work zone will be limited to 11-foot width restrictions, restricting oversized vehicles.

Construction began in fall 2024 and was originally expected to be completed in 2025. The timeline has been extended due to weather impacts, road conditions and other construction-related delays.

Once this portion of work is complete, two-way traffic will shift to the completed side of the bridge this summer while crews reconstruct the remaining side. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures, reduced speeds and no shoulders throughout the work zone throughout the summer.

Drivers are encouraged to check 511.idaho.gov or the 511 app for the latest updates on restrictions and delays. For more information or to sign up for updates, visit itd.idaho.gov/project/sh-55-fleming-creek/.
