OBA and Synergy by Association Bring C8 Capitol Network to Member Banks

The Oregon Bankers Association (OBA) and Synergy by Association (Synergy) are bringing C8 Capital Network (C8), the banking industry's commercial lending network, to OBA member banks.

Built by bankers and state bankers associations for the banking industry, C8 connects banks with peer institutions, vetted private capital providers, and qualified commercial lending opportunities nationwide. The goal is simple: help banks find more ways to say yes to customers while keeping the customer relationship at the bank.

"When a loan falls outside a bank's credit box, lending capacity or product set, the answer doesn't have to be 'no,'" said Synergy Senior Vice President Andee Rose. "C8 gives Oregon banks another option while allowing them to maintain the customer relationship and, in many cases, generate fee income."

Through C8, banks can:

  • Refer out-of-box loans to vetted, non-depository private capital providers while retaining the customer relationship and earning referral fees on funded transactions.

  • Buy and sell participations with banks and private capital providers nationwide, helping manage concentration and lending capacity.

  • Receive qualified deal flow matched to their lending criteria, target markets, and risk profile.

C8 is owned by participating state bankers associations on behalf of their members, creating a shared industry resource designed specifically for banks. Its standardized terms were negotiated from the banking industry's perspective, and participating banks retain control over what opportunities they pursue, what information they share, and when they use the network.

Getting started is designed to be simple. There is no cost to join or use the network, no technology installation or core-system integration, and no minimum activity requirement. Banks can activate their C8 account in under an hour and use only the capabilities that make sense for them.

"C8 is designed to be additive, not a replacement for the relationships and channels banks already use," said Rose. "It gives banks another tool to keep on the shelf when the right opportunity comes along."

Synergy and C8 Capital Network are hosting a webinar for OBA members to learn how the network works, see the platform in action, and ask questions. For more information and to register, visit www.synergybai.com/c8-capital-network.
