Congresswoman Scholten Announces $3.8 Million to Support Bethany Christian Services in Grand Rapids

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (D-MI-03) announced Bethany Christian Services in Grand Rapids will receive $3,876,529 in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The funding will help the organization provide foster care placements, counseling, and family reunification services to unaccompanied immigrant children in West Michigan.

"Every child who arrives in our country deserves safety, compassion, and a path back to their families," said Congresswoman Scholten. "Bethany Christian Services has spent decades doing the hard work of making sure vulnerable children in West Michigan are cared for and have access to the resources they need, and I will keep working to protect and expand these critical federal investments."

Bethany Christian Services, headquartered in Grand Rapids, is one of the nation's leading child and family service organizations. Its unaccompanied children program provides transitional foster care, case management, legal support, counseling, and educational services to children who arrive at the U.S. border without a parent or guardian with the goal of safely reuniting children with family members or sponsors as quickly as possible.

This funding reflects Congresswoman Scholten's ongoing work to bring federal investment back to Michigan's Third Congressional District and expand protections and resources for vulnerable immigrant children.
