LONG BEACH, CA -Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) announced $2.175 million in federal funding for California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) to support the construction of a new Long Beach Research Center and Special Collections Archives. This funding will help create a modern facility that will preserve rare materials and expand access to the histories that shape CSULB and the Long Beach region.
"This funding is about investing in education, access, and opportunity for our entire community," said Congressman Robert Garcia. "CSULB plays a critical role in Long Beach, and this new research center will give students and the public a place to learn, explore, and engage with history in meaningful ways. I'm proud to support a project that strengthens our university and will open doors for future generations."
Last year, the House Committee on Appropriations announced they would begin accepting Community Project Funding requests from Members of Congress to meet the needs of communities across the country. Congressman Garcia and his staff have reached out and met with numerous stakeholders from each corner of the district to discuss projects throughout each of the communities the Congressman represents.
