NEWS RELEASE

Alpine County

No Traffic Controls Scheduled Next Week

Alpine County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will not have traffic controls in place next week for construction and maintenance operations.

Caltrans Woodford Maintenance crews have re-opened SR-4 / Ebbetts Pass to Silver City just east of Raymond Meadows to allow increased access for snowmobiling, and other winter recreation activities. Ebbetts Pass remains closed for the winter, storm cycles and subsequent road conditions may result in the highway closure being pushed back to the SR-4/89 Junction on short notice.

Caltrans urges motorists traveling in the Sierras to #MoveOver and slow down when approaching Caltrans snow removal equipment on the highway. Please do not pass snowplows, graders, or sanders, unless instructed by the driver. Not only is it dangerous to you, other motorists, and our workers, it's also against the law.

Motorists should use caution while driving in winter conditions and watch for icy road surfaces in the overnight and early morning hours. For helpful information on winter driving conditions visit dot.ca.gov/travel/winter-driving-tips.

Caltrans also reminds motorists to #KnowBeforeYouGo by checking QuickMaps on your mobile device, visit quickmap.dot.ca.gov, tune your car radio to the Caltrans Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) at 530 AM, 1610 AM or 1670 AM, or call our Caltrans Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623). Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will display information regarding the pass closures for motorists.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. This work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.

For the safety of workers and other motorists, please Be Work Zone Alert. For the latest highway conditions, visit quickmap.dot.ca.gov
