McCaul Stands Against Anti-Israel Bias at the ICC, Votes for the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) - chairman emeritus of the House Foreign Affairs Committee - voted for the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, legislation he marked up and advanced through the committee as its chairman last Congress. McCaul recently joined Chairman Brian Mast (R-Fla.) and Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) in re-introducing the bill, which passed the House by a vote of 243 to 140.

"The ICC's arrest warrants targeting Israeli officials reflect a poisonous anti-Israel sentiment and set a dangerous precedent. It is shameful that Prime Minister Netanyahu could be arrested for visiting Auschwitz on the anniversary of the liberation, or for attending the Munich Security Conference next month.

"We must not be silent in the face of this injustice from the ICC, which puts democratically elected Israeli officials in the same category as the Hamas terrorists who started this war and use their own people as human shields. Like the U.S., Israel is not a party to the Rome Statute. Where the ICC's target is Israel today, it could be America tomorrow."
