MALDEN, MA - Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement on the Supreme Court's decision to strike down Donald Trump's illegal tariffs:

"The Supreme Court has affirmed what the American people already know: Donald Trump's tariffs are an illegal tax on working families.

"Trump promised time and again that he would bring down the cost of living. Instead, working people have struggled under the crushing weight of skyrocketing prices. Tariffs have hiked the cost of groceries, utilities, toys, school supplies, and more - all so billionaires could take home a bigger tax cut.

"Democrats have been fighting against these unlawful tariffs from the beginning. Now, after a year of House Republicans standing by and enabling these price hikes, working people will finally get some relief. Today's decision is a win for everyday Americans and marks an important step in the right direction, but the fight for real affordability is far from over. Democrats are going to build on this victory and continue fighting for an economy that works for working people."
