CHI St. Vincent partnership provides financial aid for HSU nursing student

A Henderson State University nursing student will receive financial aid thanks to an agreement with CHI St. Vincent.

Lynzie Norwood, a junior from Hot Springs, was awarded $1,250 for both the first and second semester of her senior year based on academic performance, essays, and a desire to work for CHI St. Vincent after graduation for at least 18 months.

"I am excited to be part of this program and look forward to sharing my experiences," Norwood said.

The CHI St. Vincent Pathways Program through the Henderson Foundation included an initial $20,000 commitment and provides $2,500 in financial aid for up to eight nursing students each year.

"We are very grateful for CHI St. Vincent and its commitment to HSU nursing. Through the Pathways scholarship, Henderson nursing students can receive financial relief and focus on learning," said Dr. Trudi Sabaj, Chief Academic Nursing Officer at Henderson. "CHI St. Vincent is investing in the future of nursing by providing our students with the opportunity to grow as a nurse at their facility."

Pathway Program recipients must complete a memorandum of understanding and promissory agreement with CHI St. Vincent. A signing ceremony was held on May 7 at the Henderson Nursing Building.

Henderson State University offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree on campus and RN to BSN program online. The Master of Science in Nursing program includes tracks for Family Nurse Practitioner and Nursing Executive Leadership and Administrative, along with the Graduate Nursing Education Certificate.
