FEMA’s Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Santa Fe Claims Office Moving to Main Building to Increase Convenience and Efficiency

SANTA FE, N.M. - The FEMA Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office in Santa Fe is relocating to the main Claims Office building on St. Michael's Drive and Fifth Street to consolidate operations under one roof.

The public office, which is now located at 1711 Llano St., Suite E, will move to the northeast section of 1712 St. Michael's Drive effective Nov. 17 starting at 7 a.m. The Santa Fe Claims Office will operate in the space that previously housed the former Kmart garden center on the east side of the building with a marked entrance and designated parking area. The public office will resume its services at this location on Nov. 17, 2025.

The Llano Street location will be closed after Nov. 13.

Moving the public office to the main Claims Office building is expected to reduce costs. The Claims Office will continue to offer the same assistance in processing claims for losses from the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire, subsequent flooding and other cascading impacts. Support includes helping claimants provide the necessary documentation and work through any questions that may arise.

"This move will create cost savings and greater efficiency, which we always strive for at the Claims Office," said Jay Mitchell, Director of Operations for the New Mexico Joint Recovery Office. "For these reasons, it makes sense to consolidate Santa Fe operations under one roof."

The Santa Fe, Las Vegas, and Mora offices are open 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. All three offices are appointment only on Friday. The Las Vegas office is open 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. For general questions about your claim, you can contact the Claims Office helpline Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.at (505) 995-7133. Voice messages can be left after hours.

The Claims Office is committed to meeting the needs of affected people by providing compensation available under the law. As of Nov. 5, the Claims Office has paid approximately $3.19 billion on 22,350 claimed losses.
