Statement from Halifax Regional Police Chief Don MacLean on Bondi Beach Shooting

Halifax Regional Police wish to share heartfelt condolences with Australia and the world's Jewish community. This unimaginable act of violence has taken a meaningful cultural celebration and robbed the community of their sense of safety.

While there have been no reported threats to the Jewish community in Halifax, Halifax Regional Police have increased patrols at local Synagogues and Hanukkah gatherings.

There is undoubtedly a sense of fear in the community right now. Halifax Regional Police will do what we can to help members of the Jewish community enjoy the holidays safely.

This support extends to anyone who is exposed to behaviour that is offensive, threatening or intimidating. A report to police can be made by calling 902-490-5020.
