Cobb EMC Foundation Opens 2027 Grant Applications for Local Nonprofits

The Cobb EMC Foundation is now accepting 2027 grant applications, providing funding opportunities for nonprofit organizations that serve communities within Cobb EMC's service area. Applications will be accepted through October 1, 2026, and grant recipients will be announced in spring 2027.

Funded by Cobb EMC members who participate in Operation Round Up, the Foundation has awarded more than $11.6 million to local nonprofit organizations since its inception, supporting programs and services that improve quality of life across the region. While the average participant contributes just $6.80 per year by voluntarily rounding up monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar, those small donations collectively make a significant impact on the communities Cobb EMC serves.

"Every grant awarded through the Cobb EMC Foundation is made possible by the generosity of Cobb EMC members who participate in Operation Round Up," said Carley Stephens, executive director of the Cobb EMC Foundation. "When members choose to round up their monthly bill, they are helping support local organizations that provide critical services, create opportunities and strengthen our communities. We are grateful for every member who participates, because those small contributions come together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors."

A nine-member volunteer board reviews and evaluates applications each year to help ensure funds are directed toward projects and programs that deliver meaningful community impact. In addition to awarding grants to nonprofit organizations, the Foundation provides approximately $70,000 annually in scholarships to students whose families are members of Cobb EMC.

Eligible nonprofit organizations that serve communities within Cobb EMC's service area are encouraged to apply by October 1 to be considered for 2027 funding.
