National Safe Boating Week Launches May 16: Industry Resources Available to Support Safety Outreach

National Safe Boating Week (NSBW) returns May 16-22, 2026, serving as a key opportunity for the recreational boating industry to reinforce safe boating practices and support education efforts ahead of the peak summer boating season. The annual observance marks the official launch of the Safe Boating Campaign, a nationwide initiative focused on promoting responsible boating and on-water preparedness.

National Safe Boating Week provides a coordinated platform for the industry to elevate safety awareness while supporting positive boating experiences nationwide. To help industry stakeholders participate, the Safe Boating Campaign has released its 2026 National Safe Boating Week toolkit, which includes a variety of resources designed to help companies and organizations share consistent safety messaging across digital channels, events, and customer communications.

Additional resources are also available through Discover Boating, including educational content and safety-focused materials that can be incorporated into seasonal outreach efforts.
Industry participation can take many forms, including:
  • Sharing boating safety content on social media
  • Promoting life jacket wear and preparedness
  • Highlighting safe boating tips in customer communications
  • Supporting local boating safety events and initiatives
  • Directing boaters to trusted educational resources
Organizations across the recreational marine community continue to support boating safety education, including the U.S. Coast Guard, BoatU.S. Foundation, Watersports Foundation, and Sea Tow Foundation.
Promoting safety builds trust with current and future boaters, strengthens the boating community, and contributes to long-term industry growth. By taking an active role in National Safe Boating Week, marine businesses help protect lives while reinforcing their commitment to customer education and responsible recreation.
Access the NSBW 2026 toolkit and begin planning your outreach.
