Mayor Bowser Encourages Residents and Visitors to Celebrate Summer Restaurant Week

(Washington, DC) - Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, and the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) are encouraging residents and visitors to make a plan to celebrate Summer Restaurant Week. Summer Restaurant Week kicks off today and goes through Sunday, August 30. More than 300 local restaurants are participating with special menus and prices for brunch, lunch, and dinner.

"We have so many fantastic restaurants in DC, and Summer Restaurant Week is an opportunity to show a little extra love to local businesses and the people who work there," said Mayor Bowser. "Maybe you're looking for a restaurant to celebrate the first week of school, or maybe a place to catch up with friends or colleagues as summer winds down. There are many participating restaurants with great deals, so we encourage you to check out what's available and then make a reservation."

Participating restaurants will offer multi-course brunch and lunch menus for $25 or $35 per person and multi-course dinner menus for $40, $55, or $65 per person. Nearly 180 restaurants will also offer unique cocktail, wine, and non-alcoholic beverage pairings for the occasion.

"Some of the best ways to experience this region happen around a table," said Shawn Townsend, President and CEO of RAMW. "Restaurant Week is our invitation to get out, explore a neighborhood you haven't visited in a while, try a restaurant that's been on your list, or go back to a place you love. Our restaurants tell the story of this region through food, culture and community, and there's always something new to discover."

This year, Summer Restaurant Week features multiple RAMMYS winners, Michelin-starred restaurants, and James Beard awardees and nominees. This year's Summer Restaurant Week also includes more than 30 restaurants participating for the first time, including 23 in Washington, DC.
