UNICEF statement on attack in Islamabad, Pakistan

Statement by UNICEF Representative in Pakistan, Pernille Ironside

ISLAMABAD, 07 February 2026 - "UNICEF strongly condemns the devastating attack at a place of worship in Islamabad yesterday, that reportedly claimed the lives of six children. The killing of children is unconscionable and constitutes a grave violation of their rights.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the communities affected.

"No child should ever be a target, nor exposed to violence. Children must be protected at all times"

About UNICEF
UNICEF, the United Nations agency for children, works to protect the rights of every child, everywhere, especially the most disadvantaged children and in the toughest places to reach. Across more than 190 countries and territories, we do whatever it takes to help children survive, thrive, and fulfil their potential.
