Scheduled Lane Closures on Eastbound Interstate 80 and Pomona Street On-Ramp at Carquinez Bridge for Inspection

Contra Costa & Solano Counties - For the safety of the traveling public and our crews, Caltrans bridge inspection teams will conduct a scheduled bridge inspection on eastbound Interstate 80 (I-80) at the Carquinez Bridge beginning Friday, August 21, 2026, will continue Monday, August 24, 2026, through Friday, August 28, 2026, 5:45 a.m. to 12 p.m., daily. The inspection will require the closure of at least two lanes on eastbound I-80, as well as a full closure of the Pomona Street on-ramp to eastbound I-80. Please note all work is weather dependent and subject to change. For current Caltrans District 4 lane closure information click here. At least two lanes will remain open during each closure.

Closure Details

• When: Friday, August 21, 2026, and Monday August 24, 2026, 5:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  Eastbound I-80: Lanes #3 and #4 close on the Carquinez Bridge from Refinery Road to Carquinez Toll Plaza
• Ramp Closure: Pomona Street on-ramp to eastbound I-80
  • Motorists attempting to access eastbound I-80 from Pomona Street will be directed to Cummings Skyway, where they can turn around and access eastbound I-80.
• When: Tuesday, August 25, 2026, through Friday, August 28, 2026, 5:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  Eastbound I-80: Lanes #1 and #2 close on the Carquinez Bridge from Refinery Road to Carquinez Toll Plaza

Traffic Control Measures
Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Please drive with caution through the construction zone. Slow for the Cone Zone.
