ECAT buses and the UWF trolleys will not run Jan. 23 or 24. Normal bus service is expected to resume Saturday, Jan. 25.
All Escambia County meetings scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 23 have been canceled.
Escambia County Weather Update
Escambia County is forecasted to have below-freezing temperatures Wednesday, Jan. 22. Although sunny conditions could melt some of the snow, ice is expected to form after sunset, leading to icy roadways. Residents are strongly urged to stay off the roadways.
Emergency vehicles should be the only vehicles on the road until further notice. Road conditions will remain hazardous as the melted snow turns into ice.
Escambia County will continue monitoring road conditions and will provide updates as new information is available.
I-10 and Pensacola Bay Bridge Closure Update from FDOT

As of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, I-10 is closed from MM 5 in Escambia County to MM 70 in Okaloosa County due to hazardous road conditions. Please seek alternative routes until further notice. Conditions can change rapidly or bring unexpected circumstances. Unless travel is necessary, it is advised to stay off the roads.

Public Safety and Public Works Update

Public Safety is continuing to operate and respond to emergency calls, even during hazardous conditions in the midst of the snowstorm.

In the 24-hour period from 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, Escambia County EMS responded to 246 calls for service, and Escambia County Fire Rescue responded to 57 calls for service.

Public Works crews worked diligently ahead of and during the storm to sand all bridges throughout Escambia County, working overnight from Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. Crews are monitoring road conditions and sanding bridges after the snowstorm, while also continuing to work in dangerous conditions to make roads accessible for emergency vehicles to respond to calls.
