Producer Summits to Provide Education for Specialty Crops and Niche Markets

The South Dakota (SD) Producers Summits are one-day events providing education for specialty crops, niche markets, and regenerative integrity. Farmers, ranchers, and producers are invited to attend events in Rapid City, SD, on February 13, 2026, or in Huron, SD, on February 20, 2026.

Hosted by the SD Specialty Producers Association (SDSPA), in partnership with Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), these summits highlight innovative ideas and opportunities for producers involved in urban and rural agricultural production in the Upper Plains.

Thought-provoking speakers will provide a wealth of knowledge through three dedicated tracks, including local food system production, business management, and regenerative organic agriculture. Presentations include low tunnels, marketing cut flowers, plant disease identification, soil biology, mushroom production, wool pellets as soil amendments, high tunnel tomatoes, zero-cost tech tools, organic certification, regenerative organic farming practices, and more.

Two dynamic keynote speakers will share their expertise on local food systems.

  • Rapid City: Kelsey Murray, Ph. D, of Aqua & Acre Market, will share 'Regenerative by Design: Learning from Natural Ecosystems.' Murray will discuss a practical framework for economic and environmental stability in South Dakota specialty crops.
  • Huron: Kevin Fulton, a regenerative agriculture pioneer from Clear Creek Land and Livestock in Nebraska, will speak on 'The Road Less Traveled,' sharing practical insights on sustainable agriculture, grass-based livestock systems, and regenerative farming.

The conference will provide a variety of sessions, networking opportunities, and discussions. Additionally, the SDSPA Annual Membership meeting is scheduled during the Rapid City event. Admission $75, and lunch is included in the registration fee.
