The City of Beavercreek is excited to announce M. Teresa Zubeck, a beloved longtime educator and community member, as the Grand Marshal for the City of Beavercreek's 2025 Fourth of July parade.
At 93 years old, Zubeck is a familiar face and spirited presence in Beavercreek. She moved to the city in 1960, drawn by the strength of its school system, and went on to spend the majority of her career teaching at Valley Elementary School. After 36 years in the classroom, she retired - but has remained anything but idle.
Today, Zubeck enjoys reading, golfing, walking, and staying active. She is a regular at the Beavercreek Senior Center, visiting three to four days a week, and also volunteers as an escort for the center's transportation program.
"They're so friendly!" Zubeck said about the senior center. "My daughter, who lives in Southern Ohio, says, 'Mom, if we had a senior center like you do, I would be there!' They are so nice and it's a fun thing to do. I thought I knew all of Beavercreek, but I've made lots of new friends here."
Zubeck raised three children, all of whom went through the Beavercreek school system. Reflecting on her decades in the city, she shared, "I am proud to call Beavercreek home."
When told she would be this year's Grand Marshal, Zubeck said, "I was stunned! I have family coming in for the parade and celebration. I am really looking forward to it - it will be nice."
The city's 4th of July celebration will take place from 6 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2025. The parade kicks off at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Meadow Bridge Drive and Dayton-Xenia Road, proceeding east and concluding near Beavercreek High School.
After the parade, celebrations continue at Rotary Park, 2260 Dayton-Xenia Road, with live music from Velvet Crush, food trucks, and activities for all ages starting at 7 p.m. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display presented by The Joshi Family at 10 p.m.
Zubeck encourages all community members to attend the celebration. "I hope to see lots of familiar faces - and maybe meet some new ones too."
