Ameren Illinois Ice Storm Restoration Update

Company makes significant progress overnight; Line workers from 4 states join restoration efforts

COLLINSVILLE (JAN. 7, 2025) - Ameren Illinois and contractor crews made significant overnight progress in restoring outages caused by the recent severe snow and ice storm. More than 55,000 customer outages have been restored since the event began. The company issued the following progress update:

Most of the power outages remain concentrated in Jackson, Williamson, Saline, and Gallatin counties. The company has experienced substantial damage to its electric infrastructure in the Southern region:

  • 51 distribution poles down (33 repaired/replaced)
  • 18 sub transmission poles down (all repaired/replaced)
  • 5 substations remain offline.

Approximately 1,500 line workers and support personnel are out in force in Southern Illinois repairing damaged infrastructure and restoring power. Out-of-state line workers from Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Tennessee are now working alongside Ameren Illinois crews. Dry weather conditions today will enable the crews to restore the majority of the remaining outages by the end of the day today.

Ameren Illinois is communicating directly with impacted customers to inform them of the estimated restoration window. Customers who are signed up for alerts will be contacted in their preferred channel. All others will receive a phone call.

We thank our customers for their patience during this time. We know this is challenging for everyone but also know that our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible.
