Fiber Optic Infrastructure Installation Along I-80 In Contra Costa County

Beginning the Night of February 2nd and taking place overnight between 10 PM to 5 AM, Sunday through Thursday nights, through February 2026

Contra Costa Counties - Caltrans District 4 will begin construction on the Fiber Optic Infrastructure Project along eastbound Interstate 80 (I-80). This work will involve installing fiber optic infrastructure and will take place during overnight hours between 10 PM and 5 AM. Construction will progress eastbound from McDonald Avenue to Richmond Parkway, toward the Carquinez Bridge.

  • Monday, February 2: 11 PM - 5 AM
  • Tuesday, February 3: 10 PM - 5 AM
  • Wednesday & Thursday: Nightly between 10 PM - 5 AM
  • Nightly: Sunday, February 8 through Thursday, February 26, between 10 PM - 5AM

No on-ramps or off-ramps will be closed on the nights listed above.

This project is tentatively scheduled for completion by Winter 2028.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will provide advance notice for motorists traveling in the area. Drivers may experience minor delays and are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time. Be work zone alert, drive with caution through the work zone.
