We are here, above all, to listen - to understand your views on what we are developing and to learn what is most useful for you and for the training of your students, said the expert, who explained that the modules presented follow the methodology of UNESCO's training tools, in particular the Training Manual for Judicial Actors on Freedom of Expression, Access to Information and the Safety of Journalists. The materials cover five central thematic areas related to freedom of expression and its limits within the international and constitutional legal framework.
Supported by UNESCO's Multi-Donor Programme on Freedom of Expression and the Safety of Journalists, the workshop forms part of UNESCO's global judicial training initiative, which has trained more than 39,000 judges, prosecutors and lawyers in over 160 countries, with the aim of strengthening the rule of law and ensuring the protection of freedom of expression and the safety of journalists.
Through this validation process, the organising institutions aim to adapt the modules to the Dominican context, promoting a deeper understanding of international standards and fostering a shared vision among judicial actors and media stakeholders on the importance of protecting the right to inform and be informed in a democratic society.
