WILLIAMSPORT - State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) recently addressed the Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council (PCIC) during their quarterly Board of Directors meeting held at Williamsport's Pennsylvania College of Technology. Yaw, who serves as chairman of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, provided the Board with a legislative update and discussed his committee priorities for 2026.
"It was a pleasure to join PCIC at their recent meeting in Williamsport," Yaw said. "Pennsylvania's chemical industry is an important piece of the puzzle in crafting energy and environmental policy and PCIC members play a key role in representing that industry. I am thankful to the Council for including me in their discussion."
Yaw told members his priorities include strengthening Pennsylvania's energy sector, keeping the economy competitive, modernizing regulations, ensuring grid reliability and pursuing incentives that bring new dispatchable generation online and keep the lights on during periods of peak demand. He also discussed bipartisan legislation he sponsored to restrict the use of firefighting foams containing polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a longtime priority for PCIC.
"We are grateful to Sen. Yaw for his continued advocacy and for joining us to discuss the future of our industry," said Steve Kratz, President, PCIC. "Pennsylvania's chemical industry is a vital engine for our economy and a leader in environmental progress, creating the essential products we all rely on for modern life. The Senator's leadership acts as a catalyst for the innovation and investment needed to keep our communities strong and our manufacturing and energy future secure."
The Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council is the advocacy organization acting on behalf of the state's chemical industry. PCIC has been a presence in Harrisburg and across the state for more than 30 years and is managed by Bravo Group.
