Hoeven: National Park Service Awards Nearly $1 Million for Fort Ransom State Park Campsites

WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Energy & Natural Resources and Appropriations Committees, today announced that nearly $1 million in funding from the Land and Water Conservation Funds (LWCF) is being awarded by the National Park Service to the North Dakota Department of Parks & Recreation for water and electrical upgrades at Fort Ransom State Park.

The grant includes $921,663.50 to renovate approximately 23 campsites by upgrading electrical service and adding new construction installation of water hydrants.

"It's crucial that North Dakotans are able to enjoy the attractions of our state in a secure environment," said Hoeven. "This funding from the National Park Service will support our efforts to ensure Fort Ransom State Park provides necessary updates and safety for an improved visitor experience."

The LWCF was established by Congress in 1964 and supports federal and state investment in conservation of natural areas, water resources and outdoor recreation. The primary source of revenue for the Land and Water Conservation Fund is from federal oil and gas leases on the Outer Continental Shelf. In 2020, Hoeven helped advance the Great American Outdoors Act, ensuring the LWCF is fully funded each year.
