Author J. Elle to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Wednesday, September 23^rd, 2026

Richmond, TX - September 18^th, 2026 - Barnes & Noble is pleased to announce the opening of its new Richmond, TX bookstore on Wednesday, September 23^rd.

Located in a newly constructed building in the Market Center at Aliana, the Richmond store is the second Barnes & Noble to open in the Greater Houston area this year, following the January opening of the Katy, TX store. The Richmond location marks the sixth opening in the Greater Houston area in the last two years, reflecting the continued demand for bookstores in the area.

The new Barnes & Noble will offer more than 18,000 square feet of books, toys, games, magazines, gifts, a Barnes & Noble Café and more. The store will officially open to the public at 10AM central on Wednesday the 23^rd, with local author J. Elle cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her acclaimed book, The Heart Trials. Costume Character Splat the Cat will also join the festivities and host special story time events over the weekend.

The new Richmond Barnes & Noble is one of three stores to open on September 23^rd, alongside new locations in Chapel Hill, NC and Mobile, AL. Barnes & Noble now boasts over 720 bookstores across the country, up from fewer than 600 stores as recently as 2023. The three stores will showcase the highly acclaimed bookstore design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings and will carry curated selections of all the best books, toys, games, vinyl and gifts.

Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards Members will earn double stamps on all purchases made between September 23^rd and September 27^th. Customers who are not yet Members are encouraged to sign up and start earning stamps and rewards right away.

Everyone who visits the new Richmond Barnes & Noble during the grand opening will have access to exclusive deals, like $50 off any NOOK device. Customers can also save 40% on all DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k Ultra HD movies.

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and having already opened 28 stores this year has plans for another 32 before the Holiday season.

Store Manager Kelly Duke, who has been with Barnes and Noble for 26 years, and who recently opened the Katy, TX store, said, "Richmond is a growing community, and we are very much looking forward to becoming a part of it.
