On December 25, 2024 Minsk hosted the next round of interministerial consultations on the bilateral agenda and international issues.
The Belarusian delegation was headed by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lukashevich, and the Chinese delegation was led by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs with the rank of Deputy Minister, Liu Bin.
During the talks, the parties summed up the results of bilateral cooperation this year, paid attention to issues of economic and investment cooperation, assessed progress in the implementation of instructions and initiatives formulated following the dialogue at high and top levels, and agreed to maintain active contacts next year.
They also discussed a wide range of topical issues of cooperation on international platforms, in particular within the framework of the SCO, BRICS and the United Nations. The Belarusian side thanked China for its support in including the element "Non-Belarusian textile tradition of Vetkovsky district of Gomel region" in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Cultural Protection (UNESCO).
Strong support was expressed for the Global Governance Initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The sides noted the steady upward dynamics of the development of bilateral relations and political dialogue, emphasizing the significant potential for further cooperation.
Special attention is paid to the development of the situation around Taiwan. The Belarusian side confirmed that it remains committed to the "one China" principle and supports all efforts of the Chinese government to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
