On December 31, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Officer Cooper of the Frederick Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Taney Avenue for multiple traffic violations, including exceeding the posted speed limit and vehicle equipment violations. Upon making contact with the driver, Officer Cooper observed items in plain view consistent with controlled dangerous substance activity.
A subsequent search of the driver and the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a loaded handgun and a quantity of cannabis sufficient to indicate an intent to distribute.
The driver was identified as Collin Malik Hoffler, 29, of Frederick. Hoffler was arrested and charged with possession of a regulated firearm by a prohibited person; carrying a handgun and a loaded handgun on his person; transporting a handgun and a loaded handgun in a vehicle; and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.
