In areas of Texas and Oklahoma, an increase in planted cotton acreage and subsequent high cotton yields have caused abnormal delays in the completion of the ginning process of harvested cotton production for the 2025 crop year. As a result, many cotton insureds in these two states will not have gin records of their 2025 cotton crop available by the Insured's Production Reporting Date (IPRD).
For cotton policies with a sales closing date of March 15, 2025, in Texas and Oklahoma, Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs) are authorized to accept production reports through June 15, 2026.
For cotton insureds who provide an acceptable production report by June 15, 2026, and who still have unginned cotton from the 2025 crop year after that date, eligibility for a temporary yield will be determined in accordance with FCIC 18010 Crop Insurance Handbook, Paragraph 1503.
Cotton insureds who do not provide an acceptable production report by June 15, 2026, will be considered to have failed to comply with the requirements of section 3(f) of the Common Crop Insurance Policy Basic Provisions.
