GSA's Richford, Vermont Land Port of Entry Project Advances: Environmental Review Complete, Construction to Begin This Fall

February 04, 2026

BOSTON - Today, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced that a major milestone has been reached for the Richford, Vermont Land Port of Entry (LPOE) expansion and modernization project. With the release of the Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), this critical project milestone clears the way for construction to begin in the fall of 2026. This project aligns with President Trump's priority of enhancing border security.

"The Richford Land Port of Entry is an important gateway for protecting our country," said GSA Administrator Edward C. Forst. "GSA is helping secure America's northern border and the entire New England region. We are excited to improve this facility for our law enforcement partners in Customs and Border Protection."

The project will improve port operations and provide a safer and more secure facility for federal inspection personnel and the travelling public. GSA's goal is to address the government's space requirements, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance operational and safety conditions at the facility.

GSA considered public feedback received during the Draft EA public comment period from June 30 to July 29, 2025. As described in the FONSI, GSA selected the Proposed Action Alternative in the Final EA for implementation because it best meets the purpose of, and need for, the project without causing significant impacts on the resources analyzed in the Final EA.

The Final EA and FONSI can be accessed from GSA's project website under the 'Environmental Review' section at: GSA.gov/richford.
