Lincoln University of Missouri student Jaylan Franks was one of 60 collegiate students selected to attend the 39th Annual Missouri Governor's Student Leadership Forum (MOGSLF), held Feb. 12-14. He represented LU at the statewide event, which provided students with a valuable opportunity to learn from influential leaders in a variety of fields. Franks is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in business administration.

Hosted at the Missouri State Capitol, the event featured a dynamic lineup of speakers, including Mike Kehoe, state legislators, entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders. Each speaker shared personal experiences and professional insights aimed at inspiring and preparing the next generation of leaders.

In addition to the featured speakers, Andrew Reynolds, LU associate professor of social work, served as a small group facilitator during the forum.

Throughout the weekend, students also participated in networking opportunities, engaging in meaningful conversations with speakers and peers. These exchanges allowed attendees to share ideas, build connections and broaden their perspectives alongside fellow student leaders from across Missouri.

The 2026 Missouri Governor's Student Leadership Forum equipped participants with tools, resources and motivation to grow as leaders in their communities and beyond. As the forum concluded, students left encouraged to apply what they learned to their schools, organizations and future careers.

The event began in 1988 under the leadership of former Missouri governor and 79th U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft. It continues to highlight the importance of civic engagement and leadership development among Missouri's college students.
