Geisinger invites community to mental health awareness event

SCRANTON -
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Geisinger College of Health Sciences invites the community to attend "Unlocking Mental Health Care: Discover the Who, What, Where, When, and How" , a free educational program on Tuesday, May 21 .

The event is designed to increase understanding of mental health, reduce stigma and connect people to tools and resources. Attendees will learn how to define key elements of mental health care, understand the impact of stigma, locate local and online resources, and recognize when professional support may be needed.

"Mental health affects everyone," said Brittany Ketchem, LSW, MHA, who will lead the program. "This event is about breaking down barriers and empowering people to take the next step - whether it's for themselves, a family member or a friend."
