Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that John A. Camardo, III, 47, of Williamsville, pleaded guilty this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah Haendiges to one count of Rape in the Second Degree and one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree (Class D violent felonies).
Between on or about April 1, 2024, and on or about May 31, 2024, the defendant engaged in sexual intercourse with a victim who was less than 15-years-old. Between on or about April 1, 2025, and on or about June 20, 2026, the defendant engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct with a second victim who was less than 13-years-old. The defendant was known to the victims. The crimes occurred at a location in the Town of Amherst.
Camardo faces a determinate sentence between 6 to 8 years in prison when he is sentenced on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. He was held without bail. Temporary orders of protection were issued on behalf of the victims.
DA Keane commends Detective Sergeant Ron Smith and Detective John Fiore of the Amherst Police Department for their work in this investigation as well as the Child Advocacy Center at BestSelf and victim advocate Nicole Haffa.
The case was prosecuted by Chief Lynette M. Reda of Training.
