Congresswoman Bynum Rejects Another Republican Poison Pill

Washington, DC - Today, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (OR-05) released the following statement after voting against H. Con. Res. 96, a resolution related to law enforcement.

House Republicans brought H. Con. Res. 96 to the floor and claimed it "expressed support for law enforcement officers," but included language criticizing sanctuary cities and progressive politicians and applauding the Trump Administration's work.

Rep. Bynum also voted today in favor of H. Res. 1252, a resolution memorializing law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

"I challenge the members that added in this poison pill to look an officer in the eye and explain why you are exploiting their service, their sacrifice, and their time for political theater," said Rep. Bynum. "It's not about you or your agenda - it's about the men and women across this country who put their lives on the line for us. Keep the main thing, the main thing and show some respect."
