Bracknell and The Hague, June 10, 2026. Honda Motor Europe and Circularise today announced their collaboration to advance digital battery passport readiness in Europe. From 18 February 2027, certain batteries placed on the EU market must carry a digital passport under the EU Battery Regulation. The two companies have been working together on how that passport can be built, shared, and sustained in day-to-day operations.
The collaboration pairs Honda Motor Europe's product and market expertise with Circularise's traceability, data management, and controlled information sharing. The focus is how battery information is structured, governed, and disclosed so that it meets compliance obligations and stays useful for stakeholders across the battery lifecycle.
As battery passport obligations approach, manufacturers face a growing need to manage complex product, sustainability and lifecycle data across organisational boundaries. That makes data quality, interoperability and governance just as important as access. Honda Motor Europe and Circularise are building battery data flows that remain reliable and accessible to the right stakeholders without forcing disclosure of commercially sensitive information.
Beyond compliance, the two companies see battery passports to build trust, keep lifecycle information consistent, and support more effective collaboration across the value chain. Their work to date reflects a shared view that regulatory readiness should be built on operationally usable systems, rather than treated as a last-minute disclosure exercise.
Honda Motor Europe and Circularise will continue refining the approach as the European battery passport landscape takes shape, with the aim of supporting a more transparent, verifiable and circular battery ecosystem.
